Peggy Ann McClure Smith, of Rock Hill, SC, is now in the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ having departed from this world on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 30, at 11 AM, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, SC. Pastors Mike Honeycutt and Chris Florence will be officiating.
Peggy was born in Porterdale, GA to Hazel and Albert Murray McClure on February 26, 1942. She attended elementary and high school in Covington, GA and attended North Georgia College before being graduated from the University of Georgia. She subsequently was awarded a Masters Degree in Counseling from Liberty University. She was an active member of the American Association of Biblical Counseling. She had been employed in Atlanta, GA., Honolulu, HI, and Ogden, Ut. In Augusta, GA, she operated the pro shop at the Forest Hills Racquet Club and later was the co owner of The White Crane, stationery shop. She was employed at Lynndale, Inc. in Augusta for 25 years before retiring as the Executive Director.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, SC. While living in Georgia, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church Evans and First Presbyterian Church Augusta; she taught Sunday School and was a counselor at both churches. She was a founding board member of the Augusta Care Pregnancy Center and was active at the center for many years.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her father, her husband for 49 years, R.T. Smith, Jr. Rock Hill, SC; her daughter and son in law, Kelly and Jim Petty of Rock Hill, SC; her son and daughter in law, Joshua and Judy Smith of Whitefish, MT; and loving grandchildren Chapman Petty and Macy Petty, Rock Hill, SC and Mary Hannah Smith, Whitefish, MT.
