William Brown Obituary

William Vincent Brown, December 9, 1957 – March 17, 2024, was born in The Bronx NY to Anne Marie Slama and William Vincent Brown.

Bill was raised in Elmont, NY, graduated from Sewanhaka High in 1975, then headed to the US Marine Corp.  His 2 years in the Corps laid the foundation for the rest of his life.  In 1977 Bill went to work for Inter County Bakers on Long Island.  Over 22 years he did everything from cleaning toilets, warehousing, logistics and sales.  It was here that his life crossed paths with his wife of 29 years, Priscilla (Peggy) Hall.  As newlyweds they moved to the Carolina’s where their life together took roots, or routes!  They traveled more than 100,000 miles together, side by side on motorcycles.

Bill had a passion for motorcycles, especially antique Harley Davidsons. He was a walking encyclopedia of motorcycle history.  In 2001 Bill graduated from Motorcycles Mechanic Institute, as a certified Harley Davidson technician, with the credentials for employment at a dealership.  Over the next 10 years he served as service writer/manager for multiple dealerships, most of them at Cox HD in Asheboro, NC and Rock Hill, SC.  In 2011 Bill purchased a Matco Tools Distributorship and became known as “Matco Bill” until his retirement in 2022.

Bill has been a congregant of the United Methodist Church since marrying Priscilla in 1995.  Over the years he has served as a well-loved youth Sunday school teacher, assistant youth group leader, and confirmation mentor.   Currently a member of Harrison UMC and Central Carolina’s Emmaus Community.  Bill’s love for God was made known daily and his faith never wavered.   To know Bill Brown is to Love him.  If you did not love him, you did not know him.  He will be greatly missed by many, none more than his loving wife.

Survived by his wife, Priscilla Hall Brown, mother, Anne Marie Brown, siblings Michelle, Mark and Robert, 20 nieces and nephews and 18 greats. His surviving friends are countless.

A memorial service will be held March 29, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Hwy, Pineville, NC  28134.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to  Wheels Through Time, Maggie Valley, NC.
